7. Data Retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to operate and secure PlotPit, and to meet legal obligations. You may delete your account or request deletion at any time through Profile → Privacy or the deletion section below. Some limited information may be retained where required for security, legal obligations, dispute resolution, or legal claims. Deleted information may remain in restricted backups until those backups expire under our normal retention cycle and will not be restored to the live service without reapplying the deletion.
8. Delete your PlotPit account
In PlotPit, open Profile → Privacy → Delete account and confirm with your current password. Successful self-service deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. You can also request deletion by email without signing in.
What is deleted. Your profile, sign-in credentials and sessions, private library, reading notes, shelves, preferences, friendships and recommendations are removed. Your shared messages, discussions, reviews and polls are redacted and attributed to “Deleted user” so other readers’ conversations remain intact.
What may be retained. Moderation reports and privacy-request records may be retained for safety, handling your request and legal claims. Account links are removed where possible; these records may still contain information supplied in the report or request. Payment providers may retain transaction records for their legal obligations. Restricted logs and backups expire under the normal retention cycle; deletion is reapplied before any data is restored to the live service.
Before you delete. Save anything you want to keep. If you have a subscription, cancel it from Manage subscription first. Deleting your account then ends any remaining paid access immediately. If you own a book club, have partner access or a staff account, contact support to transfer or delete clubs, or remove privileged access before deletion. We will help you complete these steps.
Request deletion by email. You do not need the app installed or an active login. Email support@plotpit.app with the subject “PlotPit account deletion request” and your account email or username. Use your account email if possible. Never send your password. We verify your identity before deleting data.
We aim to acknowledge requests within three working days and respond without undue delay, normally within one calendar month. If additional steps or a lawful extension are needed, we will explain them.

To exercise these rights, email support@plotpit.app. Please describe the account and request clearly. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity before disclosing, correcting, exporting, or deleting personal data. We aim to acknowledge requests within three working days and respond without undue delay, normally within one calendar month. If a request is complex or we cannot fulfil it in full, we will explain the next steps, any lawful extension, or the reason for refusal.

We may use cookies for essential functionality. If we introduce analytics or marketing cookies, we will request your consent.

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
